Custom Ordering

I'm Reece Matthews and welcome to my website. I'm going to tell you how the commissioning process works, here at Reece's Handmade Leather Goods I like doing custom work and it all starts with communication. Let me walk you through the steps and what you need to know and what I need to learn from you.

First point is you don't need to know all the terminology you could just be some guy who is interested in leather and just needs a new belt or you might know what you are really looking for in terms of leather of hardware, doesn't matter. I feel my job is to work with you and offer you guidance on what the possibilities are.

STEP ONE: THE IDEA

The first thing is when you contact me is to tell me about yourself and what it is you're looking for. You might have a really specific idea in mind or you might have something more vague, I'm happy to start wherever you are.

STEP TWO: LAYING OUT THE OPTIONS

So when I come to understand roughly where your coming from, than I can lay out some options in terms of pricing and materials, if I'm going to be hand stitching anything, using Vegetable Tanned leather, English bridle or Kangaroo leather for example. Than I can start to figure out what the general pricing is going to be when you put all the pieces together.

STEP THREE: THE SPECS

We than go back and forth a little and when I get to understand pretty much where your coming from, I like to put everything in writing so that way you know where I'm coming from I understand what your looking for and nobody gets surprised at what happens in the end.

 STEP FOUR: DEPOSIT

Once I get all the specifications laid out and your ready to approve, basically you will give your approval and than you will put down a deposit. That might be 50%, sometimes when it gets up to more expensive work we might break it into smaller pieces, but there will be some sort of deposit that you will put down. At that point we're pretty much off to the races.
